Telular Introduces Telguard® Digital Wireless Security for Advanced Alarm Protection at CTIA Wireless 2005
NEW ORLEANS, CTIA WIRELESS—Telular Corporation (Nasdaq: WRLS) today unveiled the latest in cellular alarm security with its new Telguard® Digital product line. Using Telular’s patented technology, the new Telguard TG-7 and TG-8 models transmit alarm signals to the monitoring station over next-generation GSM digital cellular networks.

Telular’s Telguard Digital products can be used for primary or backup communications to residential and commercial security and fire systems. For primary alarm transmission, Telguard Digital utilizes the wireless network for businesses and homes that do not have traditional wireline phone service, for example, where Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) or cellular-only phone services are used. As a back-up alarm device, the products automatically transmit alarm signals over the cellular network when the telephone line has been disrupted or compromised.

"It is essential for any security system to maintain a reliable communication link for sending alarm signals to the central monitoring station," said George Brody, senior vice president for Telular’s Telguard division. "Telguard provides that critical tamper-proof wireless alarm transmission, so businesses and residences can rest assured that they are being protected 24/7."

Telguard Digital allows security and life-safety companies to offer unique security solutions to their customer base. Additionally, it creates recurring revenue potential for security dealers by promoting a cellular back-up solution to a landline service.

Telguard Digital offers full-data reporting and an automatic self-test feature for complete and reliable alarm transmission. Customers also receive additional enhancements that are optimized for next-generation GSM networks, such as a unique wireless E911 calling capability using standard phone equipment; advanced 128-bit AES encryption to ensure authentication and security of alarm signals; auto-format detection; and multi-account/partition alarm panel reporting.

The Telguard Digital TG-7 and TG-8 models for commercial applications are currently shipping, while the TG-4 residential version will be available later this year. The products will be showcased at booth #2745 and at the Wireless Home display (exhibit #7115) at CTIA Wireless taking place March 14-16, 2005 in New Orleans.
